OUR
THOUGHTS
“Being
a scout is cool because we get free stuff and go to camp. We
also raise money for charity. Our scout leaders are cool. I want to play
football for games, but our leaders won't let us (they say it's too dangerous,
but I think its cool)!”
OUR
GAME SUGGESTIONS
Here
are our favorite games to play at a meeting:
Capture The Flag
Football
The Keys Game
Indoor Dodge Ball
CAPTURE
THE FLAG:
To play capture the flag, you divide your troop into two teams of equal
players. Divide a large playing field, park or an outdoor recreational
area into two sides; one for team A and the other for team B. Each team
is to hide an item (i.e. a necker) on their side of the field. This
item must be shown to the other team before being hidden, and must also
have a part of it showing when hidden.
Object of the Game:
To find the other teams object, and bring it back to your side of the
field without being tagged. If you are tagged by someone on the other
team, then they have the right to bring you to their jail. A jail maybe
located anywhere on the teamís side of the field. To get out
of jail, someone from your team must touch you without being tagged
themselves. Whoever gets the opposite teamís item to their side
of the field first, wins.
FOOTBALL:
Football is played as seen on TV, etc. but touch instead of tackle.
If you don't have access to the goal posts, but down two markers, and
make sure the football goes in between them to count as a point.
THE
KEYS GAME:
One person sits in the center of a room, blindfolded, with a set of
keys in front of them. The rest of the troop stands around the person,
and one by one tryís to get the keys.
Object of the Game:
To get the keys without being pointed at by the person in the center.
Let me explain, you see, if the person in the middle detects you coming,
they have to point in you direction. If they do, then you have to go
back to your starting place, and wait for your next turn. Note: The
person in the middle is not aloud to point madly in every direction
at once. The person to first successfully get the keys, wins.
INDOOR
DODGE BALL:
Played the same way as outdoor dodge ball, except, for you to be hit,
the ball must touch you bellow the waist, and once you're hit you are
out of the game. As the game is played you can get back in if a teammate
of yours catches the ball cleanly in the air. The game is over when
a team doesn't have anyone left playing.
