Requirements for Parents/Guardians when Participating in Events

Parents/guardians are permitted to participate in 3-5 Scouting activities per year before they must become a Scouts Canada member. 

If you, the parent/guardian, does wish to join us during one of our outings (meetings, hikes, swimming, camping, etc.):

  1. Please be sure to let us know in advance (via Scoutstracker sign-up or by email)
  2. Please complete and submit the necessary paperwork and online forms (see below)
  3. Please complete the online training, when applicable (see below)

 

Parent/Guardian Paperwork:

If you plan on attending an event with your youth, get a head start on the paperwork! Some of it is done online, while some of it is documentation we will keep on file.  In most cases you will only need to do the paperwork once per year (or less). The Hold Harmless is required for each event (hike, camping, etc.) in which you participate. We encourage everyone to complete the one-time and once per year requirements as early in the Scouting year as posssible to avoid last minute requirements!

Regular Activity Requirements (tours, hikes, etc):

  • Scouts Code of Conduct (once / year)
    • Complete this online when you login to myscouts.ca
    • Every parent/guardian should setup a myscouts.ca account and complete the Code of Conduct
  • Physical Fitness Certificate (once / year)
  • Hold Harmless (every activity you attend)

Overnight Activity Requirements (sleepovers, camping trips, etc):

  • All Regular Activity Requirements (listed above), plus
  • Safe Scouting for Parents Training (one time only
